Night
There’s nothing like being out there in the dead of night, usually freezing cold, lenses fogging up, and fumbling in pockets for the extra batteries you know you put there to keep them warm. If you’ve done it you will know what I mean. But it is a different world at night under a crystal clear sky full of stars and it can be full of rewards once you get past the exhaustion the day after.

I am lucky to live not too far from Flamborough Head and the last few years (from 2024) have seen some incredible nights with the Aurora dancing in the sky. And with Flamborough having relatively dark skies plus clear northern views it is a very good location.
On this particular night the colour was visible to the naked eye and moved across the whole horizon, even with the corona appearing overhead. Despite there being quite a few other Aurora nights, this is one I will not forget.
