Olympus-OM System Events

For 2024 I will be partnering with OM System on a series of Events and Workshops designed to help you get the best from your OM System / Olympus camera and allow you to try out other gear. As an experienced user of Olympus equipment you will have the chance to spend the day with me learning how I use my camera, learn my tips and tricks and how I them set up, and also meet a technical expert from OM System to allow you to demo equipment, ask questions and connect in real life with the brand. There will also be an opportunity for you to request equipment you would like to try after registering for the workshop.

Please check here regularly for news and updates of more events.

About The Workshop

As the U.K’s largest National Park, The Peak District is renowned for its stunning views high up on the gritstone Edges overlooking hills and valleys, with plenty of photographic opportunities. As well as dramatic vistas there are many rock formations to add interest to your compositions such as Shelter Rock, the Salt Cellar, Mother Cap and the Kit Kat Stones. The Peak District offers great images from dark and moody weather to colourful sunlight.

The workshop is designed to give you first-hand experience of the many features of the OM System bodies such as Hi-Res, Live ND and many others, and a chance to try different lenses which will be on hand to use. I will be able to show you how I use OM System gear, offer advice on customisation and how to not only ‘see’ the shot but also practical advice on how to capture and compose the best image. Claire will also be available to assist and answer any technical questions you may have, and all things OM System related, as well as allowing you to try out the lenses and bodies she will have available.

Whether you are fully experienced or just starting out with the OM System brand come and join us, there is always something to learn. As well as helping you to get the most from your gear and feel more confident with it out in the field we are sure to get some great images, and also have a fun day too.

Meeting Point

10:00am Surprise View Car Park, Hope Valley S32 3JA (Near Hathersage). See Map.

Charges Apply (£4.75 full day) Cashless Payments only.

Shooting Location

Due to limited parking availability we will meet at Surprise View Car Park. Please note card or contactless charges apply. After introductions from here we will car-share (depending on attendees) and head to Higger Tor, 10 minutes away. Higger Tor has stunning views and plenty of photographic opportunities, and it is easily accessible. The path leading up is steep but short and only a 5 minute walk to the top. Only moderate fitness is required.

Food and Drink

We will be out for the full afternoon, please bring your own food and drink and any snacks you may need. There are no washroom facilities so please pay a visit before parking. Nearest public WC is in Hathersage town centre.

Equipment

Please bring your camera body and lenses, with fully charged batteries and plenty of memory card space. A tripod will be useful should you wish to try long exposures or bracketing, along with a shutter release cable. Filters if you have them, a limited number will be available to try. Suitable footwear, it isn’t a long hike but may be wet and muddy. Suitable clothing, although May should be warm, it can still be chilly in a breeze. Warm layers you can remove are best, along with a rain jacket and brolly, it is England after all.

* Please note, should you wish to stay later with me beyond the end time I am happy to do so, but you must have your own equipment, any borrowed equipment will need to be returned to Claire. We can also move to another location.

Olympus OM System Guides

After considerable time and effort my Guide for the OM-1 is now available, along with Guides for the EM-1 MkIII and the OM-5, which also includes details for its predecessor the EM-5 MkIII

With a step by step Menu walkthrough and set-up of all the important settings the Guides go on to more advanced Custom Modes, with details of my own CM’s and suggestions for many others.

They include detailed ‘how-to’s’ on all the main features such as Bracketing, Live Time, Live ND, Focus Stacking, together with how to auto merge images and manually blend sets of images together in post.

Also included are sections explaining the Exposure Triangle, Hyperfocal Distances and Depth of Field, in fact everything you need to know. Composition tips are included along with how to find and plan new locations.

I also explain Processing Workflows, how to get organised and which Apps to consider.

Available to purchase for access as an online resource and a downloadable eBook for offline use.
