Black and White
A collection of images from varied locations, some with powerful drama and mood, others expressing simplicity.
Black and White photography has long been a passion, probably since my days of drawing when I was younger with 2B pencils and charcoal. Black and White, or Mono, allows the tones of the image to speak without the distraction of colour. The image becomes a study of light and shade, shadows, highlights and textures. I do also tend to lean towards dark images too with plenty of atmosphere as you will see from this gallery.

Not the classic lone tree image at Buttermere, instead a lone branch.
I went on a dark wet day not expecting a great deal, however it was full of atmosphere with a dark foreboding sky. A fallen branch was on the waters edge and something about it grabbed my attention. Making sure it was stage centre, I came away with an image that is atmospheric and melancholic, and an image I am very proud of.
